Welcome to Thornwood!

Thornwood is special – we are a small, tight-knit community where students, staff, parents and community support each other, learning and growing together. Our students come to school each day eager to learn, and our staff is extremely dedicated to help them reach their full potential. Each and every one of us takes seriously our mission, which is to achieve excellence in learning for all, in a safe and positive environment. Daily we model our Thornwood Expectations which are: attentive learning, respect for all, use good manners, always follow directions. Thornwood Elementary truly defines “community,” and I am very proud to say I am a Thornwood Tiger!

About Me

I have been an educator for 23 years, since my graduation with my Bachelor’s in Education from Texas A&M University in 1988. I currently hold certificates in general education and ESOL in grades 1st through 6th. I completed my masters program and received my principal’s certificate from Stephen F. Austin University.

After graduating from Texas A&M University, I wanted to return to my roots in Spring Branch, where I was raised and attended school. My 10 years of classroom teaching experience began in Spring Branch ISD at Woodview Elementary when I taught 2nd grade for four years, and 4th grade for six years. I then became a TAAS Coordinator for two years at the same campus, where I worked with the staff on instructional alignment and small group instruction. I transitioned from the coordinator position to the assistant principal role for 6 years. After spending 18 years at Woodview where I learned and grew so much, I made a change and proudly became the assistant principal at Thornwood Elementary.
