Orchestra Students Earn Top Honors

The Stratford Orchestra is proud to announce that two of our students-Senior violinist Isabella Bengochea and Freshman violinist Catherine Wu- have been selected for the prestigious Texas Music Educators Association All-State Orchestra. Stratford is the only School in all of SBISD and one of only two schools in all of Region 27 whose students have achieved this honor for 2016-2017!

All State Orchestra is the highest honor an orchestra student can achieve in the state of Texas and is earned through a series of highly competitive auditions. These students will travel to San Antonio in February to rehearse and perform with the best students in Texas under the baton of an Internationally known conductor.

Band Earns Honors in Competition
The Stratford Spartan Band had 2 trumpet players finish 1st and 2nd place in the Region Orchestra Winds audition last night at Cy-Fair High School: Zach Barnett and Sydney Simmons.  This also qualifies them for the Area auditions with the opportunity to advance to All-State the first weekend in January.  This region has a host of very fine trumpet players, and for them to come in 1st and 2nd is a huge accomplishment!  Congrats on a job well done!

Cross Country Sweeps at District 15-6A Meet!

Congrats to both boys and girls cross country for their performance at the 15-6A District meet hosted by SBISD at Nottingham Park. The girls cruised to the championship, with a score of 25 points which was 24 points better than the 2nd place team. Sophomore Grace Custer took top honors as individual gold medalist, and her teammates came through in fine fashion, too; freshman Hope Sage, junior Sidney Lawrence and freshman Olivia Hirst finished 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively, and junior Maddie Harms rounded out the scoring with a fantastic finishing kick to come in 10th place. Fay (9th) and Ella (10th) Gibbs did their part as the 6th and 7th runners, passing up other teams 5th runners to help ensure the Spartan victory.

Seniors Sam Evetts and Mike Lewis came in 4th and 5th respectively, with freshman sensation Francies Galdino coming in 14th. Junior Colby Harper rounded out the scoring for the Spartans, holding off Klein's 5th runner to help ensure Spartan victory!
