About Me

Graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University in 1997.

Major: English

Double-minor: History and Secondary Education

Prior to joining Spring Branch ISD,  I taught for 18 years on the same campus as both an English and Social Studies teacher. Have taught most courses in English and every level from on-level through AP in social studies world history.

Areas of specialty: analysis and writing

During these past years in education,  I've been blessed to work with a diverse group of students. Some came from other countries and struggled as English learners, other students became valedictorians and National Merit Scholars, but the majority came from the levels in between, each with unique goals. This year, I am a third year teacher on-campus and am enthusiastically adding my experiences to the highly qualified Stratford America team as they support students in achieving their dreams. I feel grateful to be an educator and to be a part of the Spartan team, and am committed to SBISD, campus, and student goals. If you need me or have a question, please contact me. It's going to be a great year!  I'm delighted to be here and honored to work with such fantastic kids and caring faculty members! Go Spartans!

Course Description: The course is based on the global interactions of the world and human interactions from 8,000 BCE to present day, using the six World History Themes outlines in the AP World History Course Description consistently throughout the course.  Students will refine their analytical abilities and critical thinking skills in order to understand historical and geographical context, make comparisons across cultures, use documents and other primary sources, and recognize and discuss different interpretations and historical frameworks.  This course imposes a heavy reading and writing load throughout the year, and the demands on students are equivalent to a full-year introductory college course.
