 Curtis Amrein

About Mr. Amrein


Curtis Amrein joined the Spring Forest faculty after completing his Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting at the University of Houston, where he studied with David Bertman, John Benzer, and Marion West. Prior to his graduate studies, Mr. Amrein taught band and general music in Ohio for eight years. He also served as the associate conductor for the Medina Community Band in Medina, Ohio for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Mr. Amrein received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from The Ohio State University in 2004, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. While there, Mr. Amrein performed with the Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, and Symphony Orchestra. He is a trumpet student of Timothy Leasure and was the 2004 recipient of the Richard Burkart Trumpet Award. Mr. Amrein's conducting teachers include David Bertman and Marcus Neiman. He is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association and also holds an honorary membership in Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity. He is also a member of the Zeta Tau chapter of the Pi Kappa Lamda Music Honor Society. Mr. Amrein is thrilled to be working with the SFMS bands!

Mr. Amrein teaches the Symphonic Band, Gold Band, and beginning classes in brass and woodwinds.



Students in Symphonic Band and Blue Band are expected to attend one weekly sectional rehearsal outside the school day. The weekly sectional schedule will be communicated via our website and email.

Tutorials for other classes are available by appointment.
