Spring Branch offers  Spanish and Spanish for Native Speakers.

We are very pleased to be your teachers of Foreign Language at Spring Branch Middle School.  We offer a rigorous, challenging curriculum, and are focused on student-centered learning. The curriculum is a Credit for High School Course.  This means that at the end of two years of successfully studying the targeted language, the student will receive one credit of High School Foreign Language, and he or she will be eligible for Level Two of that language.

Our teaching techniques include, but are not limited to, cooperative and group activities, partnering, individual listening and reading comprehension activities, oral presentations and cultural studies. Students will be prepared for Level Two of the studied language.

Why Study Spanish?

  • Today almost 500 million people in 21 countries speak Spanish.
  • Spanish is the second most used language in international communication.
  • The Hispanic population in the USA has grown by 60% in just one decade.  The 39 million Hispanics represent 12.5% of the total population.  This has increased demand for Spanish language media: radio, television, newspapers, magazines...
  • Latin America countries are showing strong economic growth, making them potentially major commerical partners.
  • Latin culture has had a global influence on architecture, art and literature.
