Team Director

Courtney Hill

I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BA in Dance as well as History and, in May of 2015, I received my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. After teaching World History and Pre-AP World History at Memorial High School for two years, I happily made the move to Northbrook High School to become the Director of the Northbrook High School Bandoleras Dance and Drill Teams as well as the Dance Department. I am very excited to work with the NHS community and look forward to an awesome year! Go Raiders!

Dance I-II

Dance I-II students develop perceptual thinking and moving abilities in daily life that promote understanding of themselves and others and allow them to interact effectively in the community. By mastering movement principles and skills, students develop self-discipline, and healthy bodies that move expressively, efficiently, and safely through space and time with controlled energy. Students recognize dance as a vehicle for understanding cultural and historical contexts, increasing awareness of their own and others' heritage and traditions, thus helping them to participate in a diverse society. Evaluating and analyzing dance strengthen decision-making skills, develop critical and creative thinking, and enable students to make informed decisions about dance and the world around them.

“The best dancer is not always the one with the best technique. The best dancer is the one with the most passion for dance. -Martha Graham
