Digital Art, Animation, Web Design & 3D Modeling

Mr. James Trower  & Ms. Victoria Putnam

Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images to create an illusion of movement. The most common method of presenting animation is as a motion picture or video program, although there are other methods. This type of presentation is usually accomplished with a camera and a projector or a computer viewing screen which can rapidly cycle through images in a sequence. Animation can be made with either hand rendered art, computer generated imagery, or three-dimensional objects, e.g. puppets or clay figures, or a combination of techniques.

Digital art is a general term for a range of artistic works and practices that use digital technology as an essential part of the creative and/or presentation process. Since the 1970s, various names have been used to describe the process including computer art and multimedia art, and digital art is itself placed under the larger umbrella term new media art.

Web Design is normally used to describe the design process relating to the front-end (client side) design of a website including writing mark up, but this is a grey area as this is also covered by web development. Web designers are expected to have an awareness of usability and if their role involves creating mark up then they are also expected to be up to date with web accessibility guidelines.

3D modeling is the process of developing a mathematical representation of any three-dimensional surface of object (either inanimate or living) via specialized software. The product is called a 3D model. It can be displayed as a two-dimensional image through a process called 3D rendering or used in a computer simulation of physical phenomena. The model can also be physically created using 3D printing devices

In these classes we utilize Adobe Flash CS6, Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe Illustrator CS6 and Adobe Dreamweaver CS6

We create different projects through out the year that convey different ideas and moods through the use of media design.

We utilize Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver to create cartoon animations, Animated Ads, web banners, and websites.

We utilize Adoe Photoshop and Illustrator to creat projects such of; Magazine covers, CD covers, Business Cards, Book Covers, Concert Posters, 3D modeling, and other abstract design projects.

These classes are designed to ignite the creative imagination of our students in hopes that they may gain an interest and passion for one the fastest growing and most sort after specialized skills in use today.
