Lynne Barry - Assistant Principal

I am so excited to be gearing up for a new school year!  I can't wait to see familiar faces and meet new students and families!  I cannot imagine being anywhere else, with a more caring and wonderful community!  And it is such a joy to welcome Mrs. Haynes to MWE!  I know our partnership will be fantastic!

Our theme for this year is "Recipe for Success."  Each of you provide an essential ingredient to Meadow Wood's recipe!  I would like to encourage you to join the PTA and get involved with all of the activities happening on campus.  This promises to be another exciting year filled with incredible opportunities to help our children excel!  Please check your child's Friday folder every week, ask questions about his/her day, sign up for MWE REMIND notices, and contact us with questions, concerns, and celebrations.  Most importantly, please read daily with your child!  This one activity can lead to a lifetime of success!

Welcome back, and here's to a fabulous 2017-18 school year!

MWE - where our Eagles SOAR!

About Me

A native Houstonian, I attended Texas A&M, and obtained a BBA with a marketing emphasis. I worked in the business field before obtaining a position teaching computer classes in a middle school.  This unexpected turn led to the discovery of a passion for teaching and learning and an incredible career in education that began in 1992.

My experiences in education have been quite varied.  I started my teaching career in Tuloso-Midway ISD, outside of Corpus Christi, Texas, where I taught computer classes, and later, middle school Language Arts/ESL.  My next assignment was in the small school district of Ingram ISD, located outside of Kerrville, Texas.  As Secondary ESL Coordinator, I taught the ESL classes for the secondary schools.  I also taught English I and II and supported extracurricular activities including cheerleading.  Upon returning to Houston, I joined Spring Branch ISD.  I helped to facilitate the WHEEL (Widespread Higher Expectations for English Learners) grant, serving as a literacy specialist, before becoming an Assistant Principal, first at Edgewood Elementary and now at Meadow Wood.  In my free time I love spending time with my family, reading, traveling, and enjoying the great outdoors.
