Welcome to the Meadow Wood Library Learning Commons!

Spring Branch ISD is committed to ensuring that library resources and services are a vital part of every student's continuous learning experience.  The Spring Branch ISD library web pages are your center for information and research.

The Meadow Wood Elementary library is dedicated in loving memory of Sarah Chidgey Hughes.  Miss Chidgey was a teacher at Meadow Wood from 2006 to 2010.

In August of 2010, Sarah was diagnosed with cancer and lost her fight in February of 2011. She was a very special young lady who touched hearts and inspired many. Miss Chidgey loved to read and create excitement in her students for learning. The library houses a plaque in her honor, as well as a painting of her and several of her students by Serbian artist Borko Petrovi. The front drive of Meadow Wood Elementary School, Sarah’s Circle, is also named in her honor.

You can read more about Miss Chidgey’s journey through her blog.

MWE students participated in the "Hour of Code" December 4-15 during the school day.  Students learned about computer science and coding through games and activities.  Check out some of the resources we used at www.code.org.

Technology

We are 21st Century Learners in the Meadow Wood Library. Students practice good digital citizenship as they learn how to create, collect, and share information.

Some favorite educational sites we use are saved here:

Symbaloo

MWE Library Symbaloo Page: a visual bookmark page loaded with "teacher-approved" games and websites to explore.

MakerSpace

There are many areas in the library for students to create, learn, and teach one another.

Our AUTHOR ROOM is a place where students become authors through the creative writing process.

LEGOS, K'NEX, and building materials of all kinds can be found for students to use their imagination or follow instructions to build and create.

RAINBOW LOOM, KNITTING, and ORIGAMI might be taught to some by students with prior knowledge, while other students might use YouTube, apps, and books to teach themselves.

CODING and ANIMATION will be available on the technology tables for students to create using technology.
