Spring Branch ISD Health Fitness - Our Mission


In the area of Health Fitness and Health students arrive with a diverse level of skills and concepts.  It is our mission to provide a safe, supportive environment where education focuses on adding value to each student through:

§  ·       the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and positive health fitness attitudes

§  ·       the development of each individual’s unique gifts and talents

§  ·       the encouragement of self-confidence, creativity, mutual respect, self-discipline, and honesty

§  ·       the awareness of choices for a healthy life.

Meadow Wood Philosophy of Health Fitness

The students at Meadow Wood Elementary are given the opportunity to become efficient movers and gain the knowledge to make healthy choices now and in the future.  A district curriculum is provided which includes health related fitness activities and skills related to sports and leisure.  Through the many group activities and games provided, the students learn valuable lessons in teamwork and cooperation.  The curriculum also includes general safety, nutrition, and beginning wellness concepts. 

 

Schedule Details

Each student at Meadow Wood attends Health Fitness class twice per week, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.  On Fridays, the Health Fitness department collaborates with Music and Art for Fine Arts and Fitness Fridays.  During the year, the MWE PTA provides occasional presenters for Fun Fitness Fridays.   These community specialists increase the learning experiences of our students.
