About Me

This year I will be teaching Spanish I and II.  This will be my twelfth year of teaching. I am very excited to be at Memorial Middle this year.

I grew up in the Houston area and started learning Spanish in the 9th grade. I took four years of Spanish in high school and then continued Spanish in college. One of my best learning experiences was when I had the privilege of studying abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico.

I feel that learning Spanish is invaluable, especially here in Texas.  I hope to inspire my students to continue in the language and become bilingual to increase their marketability in the work place as well as to open doors for communication.

Important Information

Important Information for Beginning of School:

Students will need a composition notebook and folder or binder section for Spanish as well as #2 pencils, blue or black pens, and a red grading pen. They will also use scissors and glue sticks as well as crayons, highlighters and map pencils occasionally.

We will also be selling the Spanish workbooks for $32 starting on Wednesday, August 24th - Friday, August 26th.  Please send cash or a check made out to MMS. I can give your child a receipt.

The state of Texas is moving to a focus on communication in your child's  learning of a language other than English.  Therefore, your child may have a different experience this year than your other children have had in previous years. Our goal is for our students to be able to speak and understand some Spanish as they continue in the program. But, please also keep in mind that becoming fluent in a language does not happen in one or two years.
