Welcome to Our Spanish Site
The purpose of the Spanish program at Frostwood Elementary is to build enthusiasm for learning a second language, to gain an appreciation of the value of being bilingual in our world today and to expose our students to Latin American cultures. The program is funded by the Frostwood PTA and is taught by a certified teacher.
Our Spanish classroom strives to be a safe and welcoming place where children can take risks with language and progress at their own pace. Our program is designed to develop skills in Spanish through songs, dance, stories and games, with many of those activities being authentic to Spanish speaking countries. All grade levels at Frostwood, Kindergarten to Fifth, attend Spanish classes. Research shows that children between six and twelve process languages better than older students so these elementary school years are very important to language development.
My goal is to create a learning environment that is fun and productive and that makes students want to continue with a second language. We don’t have a great deal of time to develop language skills, but I hope students will continue to develop with confidence in future grades.
