Arts & Crafts

Our arts and crafts staff are experts in their field. Who better to help you create your own masterpieces while having a lot of fun? 


ART BASICS (No Instructor available. Please check back soon)

This class will allow you to pursue the type of artwork you want to excel in: “Acrylic painting, pen and ink, pen, ink and wash, oil painting, watercolor, sketching, etc.” You’ll work at your own pace and in your own style. You’ll receive gentle professional guidance to help you achieve a better image, whether you’re a beginner or have already started in your artistic endeavors. Lessons will focus on color, design, concept, technique and composition, etc. Materials list will be given first  day of class.

CERAMICS for Parent & Child (ages 5-12)

This class is new for the Summer only.  If you would like to spend some creativity time with your child (or children) then come and create with clay.  Shawn Clifton will have some fun ideas for you and your child to make and have lots of fun doing it. $50.00 materials fee payable to teacher.

CERAMICS for Advanced  

This class is designed for both those with little or no ceramic experience but who want to expand their knowledge or refresh their skill as well as those with some proficiency who want to increase their technical skills.  This course will take students through centering, maximizing volume, trimming, glazing techniques and studio safety.  Students will create beautiful vases, masks, and sculptural forms.  $40.00 materials fee payable to teacher.

Drawing Fundamentals (No Instructor available. Please check back in the soon)

Using basic drawing materials, students will explore the fundamentals of drawing.  Through various hands-on activities, this course will touch upon observation, shape, line, negative space, and texture.  This class is intended for BOTH students with little or no previous drawing experience OR experienced artists.

Learn floral arranging and bow making utilizing minimum amounts of purchased items and items from your own garden.  Meet at the school for the first class and then go on a field trip to a local craft store to learn about supplies. The Instructor has previously owned her own floral shop and will be teaching you with fresh flowers and some silk flowers.

FRUIT AND VEGETABLE CARVING (Please check back soon)

Thai Fruit and Vegetable carving is a traditional Thai art. Fruit and Vegetable carving was originally used only to decorate the tables of the royal family.  Using only on knife learn an art of neatness, precision, meditation, and personal ability to make fantastic carvings.  Nikki Bunyaraksh will teach you the art that she has learned at the prestigious ML Puang Dinakara Royal Exquisite Thai Cooking School in Bangkok.  Come and have a fun filled time learning how to shape Carrots, Cucumbers, Radishes, Cantaloupes, Watermelons and other fruits and vegetables into beautiful flowers, garnishes, fruit baskets and containers to decorate your table for any special occasion.  you may purchase knives directly from teacher for $20.  You will need to bring Bowl, Cloth, Cutting Board, Fruit and/or Vegetable to carve.

Interior Decorating (Please check back in the FALL)

In this class, you will learn basic interior decorating; fabric selection, identifying various furniture styles, room design and furniture lay out, just to name a few, in a relaxed and fun environment.  A few projects will include; creating/up-cycling a lamp, faux finishing and furniture painting.  Shawn Clifton has a degree in Interior Design and has over 25 years of experience.

Treasure Hunters

In this class, we will periodically travel to estate/garage sales and or resale shops to discover hidden treasures you may purchase or use something you already own. With the guidance of Shawn Clifton, a degreed Interior Designer with over 25 years of experience, you will learn how to restore these items to their former glory or give them a new life. During the semester, a few projects may include; faux finishing, furniture painting, basic upholstery, creating/up-cycling a lamp.

Watercolor: Abstraction/Non-objective Painting (No Instructor available. Please check back soon)

This class is for all levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.  We will explore the use of watercolor combined with a verity of other substances. We will start class by creating an experimental/technique sheet. These experiments will then lead us to the exploration of abstraction in painting. Abstraction can mean many different things to different people.  It will be interesting to see the interpretation that each artist creates in class. Supplies will run $40 to $50, a supply list will be provided the first day of class.
