Spring Branch ISD partners with the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) to foster increased parental engagement and partnerships between parents, students and educators to further students’ academic success.
Nationally, PIQE has impacted more than 1.5 million under-served students since its inception in 1987. In SBISD, since the launch of a pilot program in the Spring of 2010, nearly 3000 parents, and close to 10,000 students’ lives have been forever changed as a result of the PIQE partnership.
Parent Engagement Education Program
PIQE’s signature program is the Parent Engagement Education Program. The program educates parents on how to foster a positive educational environment for their children both at home and at school.
Parents who participate learn how to create a positive and lasting educational environment at home using a number of proven academic success tools:
- dedicating a home study location and time of day for homework;
- creating ongoing dialog with their kids’ surrounding their academic successes and challenges;
- discussing children’s college expectations; and more.
