The counseling program at BHE focuses on proactive activities that build good character. The counselor draws from a variety of nationally recognized programs such as Get Real about Violence, Anti-bullying curriculum from the ADL, Motivational Productions, Developmental Assets, Character Counts, Tribes, Snapshots and a bibliography of library books that teach lessons. It is our purpose to build and strengthen the life skills in all our students with classroom guidance lessons, school wide initiatives and daily modeling of life skills by all adults on campus. We have several phrases that are immersed in our daily conversations. They are CPR – Children Practicing Respect, Are you a Room light? Warning light? Or a Spotlight? Do you have the “Courage to take a Stand”? and living by the Code of Honor. All of these phrases are taught to our students and they understand the meanings and how it affects others.

Bunker Hill is all about mentoring one another and reaching out to our community. Our community goes beyond our neighborhood school. We have reached out to the hurricane survivors, Ronald McDonald House, save our statues committee, leadership camps, etc. BHE got involved with Tsunami relief for the former presidents fund raising campaigns. All of these initiatives have been student generated. We are all about building good citizens that are concerned with the world around them.
