Welcome to Fourth Grade!

Fourth grade presents a year of challenges that afford magnificent growth. Not only do students develop academically, but they develop socially and emotionally.

Fourth Grade Curriculum
Math
Math introduces students to multi-digit multiplication, long division, equivalent fractions, volume, and more. Students learn problem solving strategies that they can use in the real world for any situation.

Reading
The goal in third grade is to create a child who can read a variety of text, understand the information being read, and be able to use the information in a variety of ways.

Social Studies

In social studies, studetnts learn about Texas from its early beginnings, through battles and independence, to growth and development of modern times.  The highlight of the three field trips taken each year is a visit to Washington-on-the-Brazos, an interactive historical farm and museum.

Character Education
Other community building strategies include community circle, and daily inspirational quotes. We hold high expectations for all students and are dedicate to making sure that each child grows confidently and successfully to his/her greatest potential.

Science
Science offers opportunities for active participation with materials that develop students thinking about the physical world.

Writing
In preparation for the Writing TAKS, students learn writing techniques and how to independently convey images and emotions along with a message. Reading incorporates read-aloud, small group, and independent instruction that build comprehension, confidence, and fluency.
