The signing of this agreement marks the beginning of a 90-day period to conduct a feasibility study for the rebuilding of Edgewood Elementary School at this site. The SBISD Board of Trustees will take action on this agreement at its regularly scheduled Board meeting on July 27, 2009.
Edgewood Elementary, currently located at 8655 Emnora, is one of 12 SBISD elementary schools that will be rebuilt under the 2007 Bond Program approved by district voters in November 2007.
The school district has been looking for a site to relocate Edgewood Elementary. As a result of this agreement, SBISD will be able to accelerate the rebuilding project at Edgewood Elementary and utilize the current Edgewood campus as a transition campus for the district Bond Program. A meeting to gain community input on this topic was held June 8 at the elementary school.
