Spartan Journalists place 4th at State Academic UIL. The Stratford UIL Journalism Team placed 4th in State this weekend in Austin! Congratulations to Sophomore Justin Todes, who placed 2nd in State in Headline Writing, and to Senior Sara Boyle, who placed 7th in State in Newswriting. Both of these Spartan Journalists rank in the top 15 journalists all across Texas in their contests.

The Utz Foundation presented six seniors with $1,000 scholarships for college. Congratulations, winners!

Gordon Utz taught here for over 30 years and we need your support to continue our efforts to continue his legacy.
The Fourth Annual Spartan Pride Golf Tournament presented by the Gordon Utz Foundation is set to occur on Sat. June 15 at River Ridge Golf Club in Sealy, TX. Over the past four years we have been able to award over $48,000 in college scholarships to deserving Stratford seniors with the proceeds from this event. With your continued support of this fundraiser, we are asking you to plan on attending this year’s tournament, donate an item for the silent auction, sponsor a hole or make a cash donation. Your participation in this fundraiser will insure that we are able to continue to award scholarships to Stratford graduating seniors.

FFA collecting donation items to aid Oklahoma tornado victims. If you can donate any of the items below, please bring them to Counselors' Corner each morning (small items) or to the Ag Barn (large items), from Wed. May 22 - Fri. May 31. Items needed include:
Small Items – Bedding, sleeping bags, blankets, towels, first aid kids, hand sanitizer, non-perishable food items, gift cards, bug spray, shoes, rubber boots, garbage bags, socks, duct tape, sunscreen, bottled water, energy drinks, gum, flashlights& batteries, soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, shampoo, books, crayons, coloring books, travel-sized toiletries, toilet paper, feminine products.
Large items – Feed for animals, hay, halters, animal meds, buckets, collars, leashes, fly spray, lumber, barbed wire, zip ties, concrete, shavings, rope, tarps, bleach, brushes, animal shampoo and soap.

Softball advances to Area! The softball team has advanced to the Area round of the playoffs. They will take on Pearland Dawson in a best 2 out of 3 series. Please come out and support these young ladies. Game 1: May 2 Thursday at Dawson at 6 pm; Game 2: May 3 Friday at Stratford at 6 pm; Game 3: May 4 Saturday at Stratford at 5 pm
Softball competes in the playoffs. Please come support the softball team as they start the first round of the playoffs in a best 2 out of 3 series against Reagan. Game One: Friday 4:00 at Delmar Stadium, Game Two: Saturday 11:00 am at SHS, Game Three Saturday 30 mins after game 2 if needed.
Spartanaire Dance Officers selected -Colonel: Jae Barroga, Lt. Colonels: Caroline Kelly and Margaret Gray, Lieutenants: Erin Higgins, Makenzie Moriarty, and Erin Williams. Please congratulate these girls when you see them!
Spartan Journalists earn 1st place Journalism Team ranking at Regional UIL competition; two Spartans advance to State! Congratulations to senior Sara Boyle, who won 1st in News Writing at the UIL Regional competition today, and to sophomore Justin Todes, winning bringing home the silver medal in Headline Writing. These two Spartan journalists will compete at the State UIL meet on May 21.
Spartan Tennis sets new school records - 5 players advancing to State! Congratulations to Cameron Long, who is the Regional Boys' Singles Champion, to Mixed Doubles Champions Josh (Felix) Hollaway and Kaylin Kruseman, and to the Regional Boys' Doubles Runners-up Thomas Leyden and Nick Butler, all of whom will compete at State. This is a school record, sending three different teams to the State tournament. Read more here.

Congratulations to the Spartan Band! Both the Symphonic and Honor bands earned the top Sweepstakes Award at the UIL Concert and Sight-reading contest today in Brenham. The Honor Band was the only high school band in Spring Branch to receive 1's from every judge!
All four SHS Orchestras won Sweepstakes, including the brand new group - Sub Non Varsity Strings, (mostly freshmen). This news completes the UIL season for all of the SHS music performance groups this year. Spartan history was made this year in that all entering bands, choirs and orchestras won the Sweepstakes trophies! This was the first time this happened in over 40 years of SHS history.

Five Stratford Choirs bring home UIL sweepstakes trophies! On Thursday five choirs sang at UiL Concert and Sightreading contest. This is the most number of choirs ever entered from Stratford. All five of the choirs received superior (sweepstakes) ratings. The trophies are currently on display in the main office for this week. The singers really stepped up their performances for the judges. One of the judges commented as a Choir entered to perform: here comes another of those phenomenal Stratford Choirs. Girls soccer advances to 4th round of playoffs - first time in the school's history - way to go, Spartan Girls' Soccer!
Boys' Golf advances to Regionals! The boys golf team of : Trevor Hennington, Campbell Ross, Ben Riedel, Clyde Harvey, and Zeb Kaminsky will be representing Stratford at the Regional meet in Huntsville. Wish them luck in their playoff bid for the state meet. In addition, Trevor Hennington was the District 22- 4A golf champion. Congrats to Trevor. For more District Golf results, click here.
Debate students to advance to National Tournament this summer! After a grueling marathon of a tournament, Stratford Debate has once again qualified for the National Forensics League National Tournament this Summer. The team of Fariha Jawed and Nathaniel Barbour have qualified in Public Forum Debate. The team of Aby Brugo and Jenny Payton are also the second alternate in Public Forum Debate.

Stratford named District Academic UIL Champion! Stratford beat all other district teams in Academic UIL competition last weekend by more than 200 points, earning the title of Academic UIL District Champion. Many students will advance to Regional competition on Apr. 20. Check out the winners' list!
Stratford Full Symphony Orchestra Wins UiL Sweepstakes!
The SHS Full Symphony Orchestra earned Superior ratings from all 6 judges at UiL Concert and Sight Reading Competition held on Thursday, March 28 at Cy Woods High School. Judges commented on the technical precision as well as the musical artistry of the group.
Congratulations to the Spartan Swimmers - State Champions for the second year in a row! See the winning race here and read about it with this link. Senior Michael Miller was named Swimmer of the Year, as well. These State Champions were honored on Mar. 28 at Don Coleman Coliseum. Way to go, Swimmers!

Congratulations to Undefeated Boys' Varsity Soccer - District Champs! With still two games to play in district, the Boys Varsity Soccer Team became District Champions when they won their game against Humble on March 8th. They have accomplished this by having, to date, an undefeated season. They have scored 45 goals and allowed only 8 goals against. Needless to say, it is a proud time for the team. This Friday the team will play against Spring Woods at SHS at 7:00 PM. Please come and cheer on your Spartan Soccer Team as we celebrate this historic championship.
