Hop To It Reading Incentive
For all students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Second grade, the purpose of the Hop-To-It Reading Incentive Program is to encourage a balance of reading Fiction and Non-fiction outside of school. Students can be read to or can read books independently. Students in Kinder and 1st grade will read 14 books, 7 non-fiction, and 7 fiction. Students in 2nd grade will read fiction and non-fiction for 200 minutes (equal number of minutes given to fiction as well as non-fiction). Parents will fill out the Hop-to-It Reading Log each time a child reads. Additional logs are on library webpage.
Students who fill out their sheet with number of books read or number of minutes read will be invited to a special “Hop-to-It” party in January. Each child will also receive recognition and a certificate, a bookmark, and a pencil for their effort.
