Monday: Teacher In-Service - NO SCHOOL
Tuesday: Introduction To Political Influences in Culture
Students will understand the positive and negative effects regarding the power of government by viewing the film "Rabbit Proof Fences."
Wednesday: Introduction To Political Influences in Culture
Students will understand the positive and negative effects regarding government power by discussing the film from the previous day and focusing on a reflective writing piece regarding whether it is better to have too much government or too little.
Students will be introduced to the novels that we will be focusing on this 6 weeks.
Students will be introduced to the novel, People of Sparks
(a continuation of City of Ember) as a means to further explore the components of culture in the novel series.
Thursday: Introduction To Political Influences in Culture
Students will understand how power in government is often assumed and situational by using an inter-active situation that requires them to use creativity, planning and leadership skills to establish a form of rules to live by.
Graded reflection questions will follow, using direct reference to activities as a means of support for the questions.
Friday:Introduction To Political Influences in Culture
Students will understand different political styles using a game of cards as a means of "what type of power structure" a person holds. Students will begin note taking on different forms of government, using their developing note taking skills.
