 Technology Program at Bunker Hill

Vision

"The Beat Goes On" definitely applies to technology at Bunker Hill. Each year we continue to come closer to our vision of Target Technology, according to the Technology Guidelines set by the state of Texas and the Texas STAR Chart. This also stretches us to reach our campus vision of:  "Technology at the point of instruction for all students."

Program and Equipment

In earlier years, Bunker Hill had the traditional technology setting of two computer labs, with weekly visits from each classroom to the lab, and three to four computers per classroom. In was in this setting that teacher and students did learn how to integrate technology into the curriculum, but after following this model for several years, we began to outgrow it and had dreams of following another model. Fortunately, we received the equipment to help us establish our new model. We now own five mobile labs, two with 25 laptops and three with 16 computers., There are 5-6 computers per classroom, which creates a mini-lab for each classroom. Additionally, we have one printer per classroom.. Future plans include the purchase of additional mobile labs and possibly a multi-media lab of 15 computers. Including the mobile lab and classroom computers, technology at Bunker Hill consists of:

  • Five mobile labs
  • Mini-lab in each classroom
  • Computer to television connection in each classroom
  • One printer per classroom
  • 5 color laser printers on campus
  • Active boards in 1st - 5th grades
  • Elmos for classroom instruction
  • Flip videos for classroom instruction
  • Digital cameras
  • 5 multi-media projectors
  • A television and vcr in each classroom
  • A television studio, complete with computer, 4 monitors, audio mixer, video mixer and 5 microphones
  • A state of the art sound system for assemblies, which includes 4 microphones
  • A mobile podium, which includes a sound system and 2 microphones

Technology Support

Students and staff at Bunker Hill are supported by the Library Media Specialist, the Campus Technology Person and tech-savvy classroom teachers and administration. We also receive support from district technology staff. Bunker Hill staff receive technology training from Technology staff, as well each other. Each year, Bunker Hill teachers attend the Texas Technology Education in Austin, Texas for exposure and training in the latest technology. There is also a district trained Active Board trainer, who supports and trains staff in the use of Active boards. Bunker Hill teachers and students connect to the 21st Century with technology!
