One the educational goals of Bunker Hill faculty and staff is to raise cultural awareness and understanding. We feel that it is important for students to become knowledgeable about the customs, econony, beliefs and culture of other countries. Bunker Hill Elementary is actually the home school of several different cultures. For this reason each grade level focuses on a particular country to study. The grade level focus countries for 2000-2001 are as follows:

• Kindergarten: USA
• First Grade: Mexico
• Second Grade: Brazil
• Third Grade: Egypt
• Fourth Grade: Germany
• Fifth Grade: England

The grade level studies culminate each year with International Week. International week is filled with special activities which are integrated into art, music, health fitness and the regular classroom. With the teamwork of faculty and parents, students have the opportunity to view collections of items that are symbolic of each country, sample foods common to each country and end the week with a ceremony and International Parade of Nations. International Week has become a tradition at Bunker Hill Elementary.
