Fifteen Memorial High School students were honored recently as 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists. Students and their parents were recognized Oct. 26 during the monthly meeting of the SBISD Board of Trustees and then again as a separate high school breakfast.
Students recognized this year are: Preston Burkett, Emma Clark, Linh-Tran Do, Corey Hardegee, Seong Hong, Allison Iler, Ester Jung, Bennett Kirchhofer, Hannah Moore, Hannah Pruitt, Pranav Rao, Robert Sauermann, Grant Shillings, Jonathan Thompson and Matthew Willis.
Students become eligible for the national scholarship program when they take the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as juniors. Semifinalist represent less than 1 percent of the high school graduating class in Texas and rank as the state’s highest scoring students.
In addition, seven Memorial High seniors have been named as recipients in the National Hispanic Recognition Program. They are Daniela Arboleda, Sable Doebbler, Yael Ginsburg, Jessica Hines, Andrew Jones, Lauren Litteken and Amy Rodriquez.
