Foundation leaders present annual check to Board

Presiding officers and executives with the Spring Branch Education Foundation (SBEF) presented the group’s annual symbolic check to the Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees during the Board’s Sept. 29 regular monthly meeting.

This year’s “check” totals $583,618, reflecting all contributions to the district for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. SBEF’s gift represents an increase of more than $160,000 over a year earlier. Since its founding in 1993, SBEF has raised more than $6.5 million in financial support for SBISD.

On behalf of the Board, SBISD Trustees President David Converse and Superintendent of Schools Duncan Klussmann accepted the symbolic check.

SBEF Chairman Warren Matthews was joined by Foundation Executive Director Cece Thompson during the presentation. “We are very proud to represent our Foundation and our Board of Trustees tonight. It is very rewarding to see firsthand the difference that can be made in the lives of so many individuals, from preschool children to the young men and women that will be graduating from our high schools,” Mr. Matthews said in prepared remarks.
