Dr. Joyce Juntune, who earned her doctorate from Texas A&M University in College Station, will speak about the unique characteristics of giftedness in students during two presentations on Wednesday, Oct. 17. A Spanish language presentation will be held at 6 p.m. at Edgewood Elementary School, 8655 Emnora, followed by a 7 p.m. presentation in English in the SBISD Board Meeting Room, located in the district Administration Building at 955 Campbell Road.
GT Awareness Meetings are held monthly to inform parents and community members about giftedness and how to refer students to the Spring Branch ISD Gifted and Talented Program. Dr. Juntune held an all-day training recently for district teachers of gifted students.
In separate but related news, the Gifted and Talented Parent Advisory Council of SBISD will meet from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, in Room 275 of the SBISD Administration Building, 955 Campbell Road. Dr. Lynette Breedlove, director of the district’s Advanced Academic Studies Department, will speak on the department’s Five-Year Improvement Plan. Drinks will be provided.
