What started out as a way for swimmers from Memorial and Stratford Highs to condition in the off season, is now quite a popular water polo club. While it is the first time any Spring Branch school has had the sport, both teams are doing well. There are 28 teams across the Houston area, which are divided into two districts. The high schools include: Memorial, Stratford, Clear Lake, Clear Springs, Lamar, Westside, and Pearland.
“The team is in its first year and has had some big strides recently,” Stratford Coach Mike Hoskovec says. “It (water polo) is a physical sport that requires quick cognitive thinking, team work, and tremendous aerobic conditioning.”
SBISD wishes the best to the Stratford Girls’ A team as they compete in their first regional tournament Oct. 11-13 at Clear Springs.
