Upgrades are under way this summer at Darrell Tully Stadium and at numerous other athletic facilities across Spring Branch ISD. All these highly visible improvements are made possible through the 2007 Bond Plan, which will transform and update the district’s entire campus and athletics program during the years ahead.
Opened in 1966, Darrell Tully Stadium hosted the first varsity football game between Memorial High School and Dallas-Kimball High School. The stadium is named for Coach Darrell Tully, who was a former head football coach and athletic director for Spring Branch High School and then the district athletic director until his retirement in 1978.
By next August, about $21 million in ongoing Bond Plan construction and renovation at Tully Stadium and Don Coleman Coliseum will transform these two district facilities. Fans will park in repaved lots with added landscaping, and new fencing, lighting and security features. In the stadium, spectators will enjoy new ticket booths and concession stands, and an elevator to reach separate levels. The Coliseum will offer new competition play floors and seating for fans.
