An information session for SBISD educators and other staff interested in earning a master of science degree in school library and information science from the University of Houston at Clear Lake will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, at Terrace Elementary School, 10400 Rothbury.
Qualified graduate student applicants may begin studies in early 2008 to earn the School Library Standard Certificate. This enterprising partnership with UH-Clear Lake will enable SBISD to present graduate-level courses with a practical application. Courses will be taught through a combination of university professors and qualified staff, and held at a district location.
SBISD Associate Superintendent of Administration and Personnel Margie Duffey announced the college-district partnership. SBISD, as the region’s employer of choice, supports the Board’s Five-Year Education Plan goal to provide options for professional growth. For details about the upcoming information session, please call the district’s Director of Library Information Services Barry Bishop at 713-365-5580, or email barry.bishop@springbranchisd.com.
