National Merit Semifinalists named at Stratford High
Five students at Stratford High were recently named National Merit Semifinalists, based on student scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, commonly called the PSAT. As semifinalists, they rank among the top scorers in Texas, and represent less than 1 percent of all American high school seniors, the College Board reports.

Stratford High students named National Merit Semifinalists are Sarah Byerley, Matthew Furman, John Hollywood, Justin Schneider and Andrew Waddell. To be named a National Merit Finalist later this year, semifinalists must have a record of high academic performance, be recommended by their principal and earn qualifying SAT scores. They must also submit a personal essay and a qualifying record of community and campus service. (9-21-07)
