Stratford High varsity volleyball, basketball and softball player Erin Jackson is one of eight area students who has received a $1,000 scholarship as part of Reliant Energy’s Scholarship for Champions-Powering Strong Minds and Bodies program. In addition to the scholarship award, Erin will receive a surprise school visit by a Houston Texan player, will be given an opportunity to take part in a pre-game field presentation during a Houston Texans home game, and will be honored at the team's Draft Luncheon.
Erin has been elected captain in all three of her varsity teams. She was Second Team All-District for softball two years in a row, has volunteered in several anti-alcohol and drug programs, mentored other students, and served as an officer for the Academy of Finance Business Professionals of America. She was also president of her girls’ class for four years and is treasurer of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. (9-12-07)
