Valley Oaks Elementary School fifth-grade teacher Marcia Looper will receive the 2007 Preserve America Elementary History Teacher of the Year Award on Friday, Sept. 14, during a special 9 a.m. morning ceremony on the Westview campus.

Sponsored by Preserve America and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the award will be presented by Texas Preserve America Coordinator Judy Brodigen and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s National Chairman John Nau. Students will also present a patriotic program.

She has supervised student programs ranging from Cleanup Valley Oaks beautification to a Random Acts of Kindness after-school class where students quietly performed good deeds for others.
