Northbrook High senior wins Making a Difference Award
Northbrook High senior and class president Fidel Castro was honored Sept. 11 as the first Making a Difference award winner for the 2007-08 school year during a monthly meeting of the Houston-based Institute of Real Estate Management, or IREM.

Fidel is a member of Northbrook High’s Honor Society and Senior Men and participates in track. A summertime reading volunteer at the Hillendahl branch of the Houston Public Library, he has also participated in the Senior Clean Up, and local fund-raising and awareness walks for prostrate and breast cancers and AIDS. Fidel also works after school at Rice Epicurean Markets. He hopes to pursue a law enforcement career. Joining him at the IREM luncheon were his mother, Josephine, and Northbrook High social worker Scott Glueck. (9-11-07)
