Middle school teacher speaks out about bigotry
Spring Branch Middle School teacher Genie Renaudin was one of three regional speakers featured during a Sept. 7 Educators Breakfast sponsored by the Southwest Region of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The annual breakfast was held at the Westin Galleria Hotel. This year’s event showcased laudable anti-bigotry efforts in area classrooms.

Genie spoke about the success of No Place for Hate® activities at Spring Branch Middle. The campus, which has sponsored activities for six years, has been named a No Place for Hate® campus by the regional ADL. “I feel that the success of our program is directly related to students being the leaders and creators of the activities,” Genie said.

Students in Career Investigations and Skills for Living classes and a student group that promotes kindness and respect at Spring Branch Middle were featured on a DVD broadcast during the breakfast. A high school educator and an elementary teacher also spoke during the recent ADL event. (9-10-07)
