Seven Spring Branch ISD student athletes were featured June 15-17 in the Houston Chronicle’s All Greater Houston teams. The students were recognized for achievements in baseball, softball, and golf.
Six of the seven students attend Memorial High School, while one student was chosen from Spring Woods High School.
In baseball, Memorial High junior catcher M.P. Cokinos, Memorial High junior third baseman Daniel Neumann, and Memorial High junior shortstop Michael Ratterree made first team. Spring Woods High School senior infielder Ray Hernandez was named to the third team.
In softball, Memorial High senior outfielder Leslie LeJune made the newspaper’s first team.
In golf, senior Jes Schneider and sophomore Cory Whitsett also made first team. Whitsett, who the Chronicle featured separately, also won the Western Junior Crown and the 5A boys golf championship this year.
When asked about his golf goals, Whitsett expressed his hope of winning a team championship at the state level. “We have a lot of good players coming back, and it would be fun to go there and get one together,” Whitsett said.
