Dropout outreach steps out Sept. 8
More than 75 volunteers will knock on doors in neighborhoods surrounding Northbrook and Spring Woods high schools on Saturday, Sept. 8, to encourage students who are no longer enrolled to return to school. The dropout recovery effort is the first of its kind in Spring Branch ISD.

Volunteers for this one-day citywide initiative, known as “Expectation Graduation: Reach Out to Dropouts,” include Superintendent of Schools Duncan Klussmann, district counselors, teachers, parents, business owners and other concerned residents. Volunteer teams will greet area families during the morning outreach event. Students who are no longer attending school will be encouraged to return and referred to community resources to help them remove personal barriers or specific obstacles.

For more information or to volunteer, please contact the SBISD Guidance and Counseling Dept. at 713-464-1511, ext. 2460, or email the department’s administrative assistant at stephani.hernandez@springbranchisd.com. (9-04-07)
