Eleven seniors from Spring Branch high schools have been awarded $12,000 Jesse H. Jones and Mary Gibbs Jones Scholarships by the Houston Endowment. During the past 50 years, the endowment has donated more than $71 million to help send 9,543 Houston area students to colleges and universities. Scholarships were awarded this year to 322 graduating high school seniors across the region.
This year’s recipients from Memorial High are Jeffery Song, Kaleb Underwood and Amrita Vir. Northbrook High recipients are Bieu The Nguyen and Thuan Vu. At Spring Woods High, scholarship winners are Rebecca Duvall, Raul Tenorio and Lauren Brady. Erin Jackson and Kristine Mortola received scholarships at Stratford High. Dasha Tsybulnik of Westchester Academy for International Studies was that school’s recipient.
A Rotary Club of Houston committee awards student scholarships based on academic achievement, economic need, community service and leadership. Seniors enrolled in all Harris County school districts can apply for the endowment scholarships. For more information, please visit www.houstonendowment.org.
