Have a refreshing glass of lemonade this weekend and support breast cancer research. This Sunday, May 4, Spring Woods High School students involved in the Junior Achievement Company Program will stand outside Nordstrom department store in The Galleria and sell pink lemonade as part of the large-scale Lemonade Day project, a community event supporting entrepreneurship and youth development.
The Spring Woods High students, organized by the company name WINC, decided recently to donate the profits from their lemonade stand to The Susan G. Komen Foundation. The refreshment stand, or "WINC Goes Pink," will be open from noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday inside the Galleria near the popular store. Buy summer shoes and shirts, then add a refreshment for a good cause. The high school's JA program is led by Career & Technology Education's Estie Cuellar.
The Lemonade Day project is a citywide project aimed at teaching Houston's youth how to start, own and operate their very own lemonade businesses. Hundreds, if not thousands, of student-run lemonade stands are expected to operate across the city on May 4.
