The Texas State Teachers Association has awarded its School Bell Award for journalism in the field of education to SBISD Board of Trustees President Mike Falick. A panel of independent Texas journalists chose the Spring Branch political leader to receive the award for Outstanding Education Blog.

He was nominated by Spring Branch Education Association leader Edie Clark. The awards were presented April 18 in Plano, Texas, during the association’s annual convention. Mike Falick’s blog can be read at http://mikefalick.blogs.com.

The Board of Trustees president was one of the first School Board members in the nation to taken an active role in blogging on education and school-related issues. He has lectured at national conferences on the topic.
