Car Wash, International Festival, Art Lecture
Spring Branch ISD schools and the Altharetta Yeargin Art Museum will host several special campus events. On Saturday, April 5, the Frostwood Elementary School Student Council will host a car wash to benefit its sister school, Housman Elementary. The car wash will be held from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday on the Frostwood campus, 12214 Memorial.
 
Also Saturday, April 5, Westchester Academy for International Studies, 901 Yorkchester, will host its annual International Festival and Garage Sale from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Westchester Academy students will showcase foreign language class activities. A variety of foods will be offered by student clubs to benefit student activities, and the campus Garage Sale will include bargain clothes, shoes, toys, books, bicycles and appliances. Looking ahead, on Tuesday, April 8, internationally acclaimed embroidery artist Cindy Hickok will speak in a 7:30 p.m. lecture at the Altharetta Yeargin Art Museum, 901 Yorkchester. Hickock, whose work is represented in the privately-operated art museum’s collection as well as in museums across the nation, will speak about textiles and the art of needlework. The special spring lecture is sponsored by a grant from ConocoPhillips. For details, call 713-365-5652.
