Washington Mutual writes check to schools
Two Spring Branch campuses will share $2,425 as a result of the March 28 ribbon-cutting festivities and open house held at the new Washington Mutual branch located at the corner of Long Point and Gessner. Spring Branch ISD Principals Julie Baggerly of Shadow Oaks Elementary and Cynthia Chai of Spring Woods Middle schools joined Houston City Councilmember Protem Adrian Garcia and other local officials at the 9:45 a.m. Friday ribbon cutting. A large representative check was awarded to the two school leaders during the event.

The combined schools donation represents a $25 donation by Washington Mutual for each new account opened at the branch between Feb. 19 and March 7, said branch manager Sharon Presta. A two-day, March 28-29, open house at the community bank includes food, prizes, clowns and a children’s moon walk. Shadow Oaks is located at 1335 Shadowdale. Spring Woods Middle is located at 9810 Neuens. To reach the branch bank, call 713-468-0711.
