During the next two days, Pine Shadows Elementary, 9900 Neuens, will showcase its five-year journey to integrate the fine arts fully into its core curriculum with a special program for educators, parents and community members. The school has received a $40,000 replication grant from Houston A+ Challenge to continue and share its fine arts integration initiative, known as Project AIM (Arts Integration Model). The new grant will allow the campus to replenish its art materials and add to its fine arts resource library.
On Monday and Tuesday, March 10-11, the campus will host a Fine Arts Integration Collaborative. From 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day, SBISD and other area schools will be able to conduct classroom observations, review Pine Shadows student work samples, and take part in a process to enhance their ability to design a fine arts integration program on their own campuses. A separate Fine Arts Parent Event will be held in conjunction with the campus’ PTA program at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12.
