Students in the Silver Starz Officer’s and Elite Dance Team from Westchester Academy for International Studies earned sweepstakes, judges’ and best in category awards in the Showtime Texas Pride drill team competition held Feb. 23 at Montgomery High School. 

Awards earned by the team at the Texas Pride competition include the following in the Grand Champions Circle – Small Team Officer Division: Sweepstakes Award-Officers; Judges’ Award-Officers; five Best in Category awards for Officer Jazz, Officer Hip Hop, Officer Open, Officer Pom and Officer Modern; and two Best in Category runner up awards for Officer Lyrical and Officer Novelty.

In the Grand Champions – Small Team Division, the following awards were earned: Sweepstakes Award, Team; Judges’ Award, Team; Applause Award Creativity, Team; three Team Best in Category awards for Jazz, Hip Hop and Novelty; and Best in Category runner up for Team Pom. Morgan Miller and Tessie Tucker were also named Duet Winner at the competition.
