Emily Pyle, a Westchester Academy for International Studies senior, was honored March 4 with the Making a Difference Award by the Institute for Real Estate Management (IREM) during the group’s monthly meeting and luncheon. She also received a Frost Bank savings bond as part of the IREM Award.
Emily serves as president of the National Charity League, a mother-daughter volunteer organization, where she plans, organizes and takes part in many service projects. Since entering high school, she has piled up more than 300 volunteer service hours in a variety of projects. Two of her favorite causes are The Seniors Place and the Ronald McDonald House. Every summer, Emily has volunteered 8-hour days several times a week at The Seniors Place, which provides respite care for caretakers of Alzheimer’s patients. She has also been a camp counselor for two years at the Ronald McDonald House summer camp.
A member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, she is a member of the Wesley Choir and serves as a faith-in-action coordinator for an annual service day for church youth. The monthly IREM Award is coordinated by Phyllis Wells, the district’s Social & Emotional Learning Coordinator.
Other SBISD seniors honored with IREM awards this year are: Fidel Castro, Northbrook High; Kemp Gregory and Ainsley King, Statford High; and Amanda Kvinta, Memorial High. Kelsey Fields of Spring Woods High will be honored later this year.
