Twenty-five Spring Branch ISD seventh- and eighth-graders have won places in the Mixed or Treble Choir after recent auditions for Region 27’s All-Region Choir. More than 700 students auditioned for this important regional ranking.
Three eighth-graders ranked first in their audition room for the top choir. They are Teresa To, alto, of Spring Oaks Middle; Heather Henry, soprano, of Spring Forest Middle; and Kimberly Stirl, alto, of Memorial Middle. Both Teresa and Kimberly have been named to the All-Region Choir for a second year.
Students named to the Mixed Choir are: Dakota Broadway, 8th grade, alto, Spring Branch Middle; sopranos Brianna Bonilla and Chelsea Martinez, 7th grade, and Brianna Busby, 8th grade, all Spring Oaks Middle; tenor Edwin Castillo, 7th grade, also Spring Oaks Middle; soprano Hope Johnson, alto Hattie Marks, and tenor Hayden McMordie, who are all 7th graders at Memorial Middle; and Karina Ruiz, 8th grade, alto, also Memorial Middle. Karina is in the All-Region Choir for a second year.
Named to the Treble Choir are Landrum Middle 8th grader Ana Hernandez, alto; Memorial Middle 7th graders Brooke Barret and Amy Fox, sopranos, and Lisa Ellis and Madison Raley, altos; Memorial Middle 8th grader Patricia Phillips, alto; and Northbook Middle 7th grader Susana Sanchez, alto. Patricia Phillips is in Region for a second year.
Also named to Treble Choir are Spring Woods Middle 8th graders Caitlin Luper and Jacey Messenger, sopranos, both of whom are in Region for a second year; and 7th graders Mary Beth Schatzman, alto, of Spring Branch Middle; Maheen Rizvi and Gabby Williams, sopranos, both of Spring Forest Middle; and Alexandra Gonzalez, alto, of Spring Oaks Middle.
SBISD middle school choir directors are Chris Strelecki, Landrum; Julia Hall, Memorial; Mary Ann Drawl, Northbrook; Christine Price, Spring Branch; Katy Cuddihee, Spring Forest; Greg Morgan, Spring Oaks; and Allison Tilotta, Spring Woods.
