Eleven campuses earn Best Public Schools ranking
Two SBISD high schools, four middle schools and five elementary schools in Spring Branch have been named to Texas Monthly magazine’s annual list of the state’s Best Public Schools. Top performing public schools are listed in the 348-page December issue of the award-winning, general interest magazine.

Memorial and Stratford high schools are among only 25 secondary schools in Texas to win 100 percent ratings for top performance in reading/language arts, math, social studies and science. Also cited for high performance in all subject areas are Memorial Middle and Frostwood and Hunters Creek elementary schools.

The magazine’s editors joined with the National Center for Educational Accountability, formerly known as Just for Kids, to analyze student test results for the past three years to determine this year’s recognitions.

Three separate SBISD middle schools and three elementary schools were also named top performing schools by Texas Monthly, although they did not earn perfect ratings in all subject areas. They are Landrum, Spring Branch and Spring Forest middle schools and Bunker Hill, Memorial Drive and Wilchester elementary schools. In a separate education ranking, Memorial and Stratford high schools were among only 505 high schools nationwide to earn silver or gold medals in the latest ranking of U.S. high schools conducted by U.S. News & World Report, a weekly news magazine. Both of the SBISD high schools were awarded silver medals for providing a good education for all students. For details on these rankings, visit http://www.usnews.com/.
