Get LoSt in Books – General Guidelines & Incentives
Dates – Week of Sept. 14 through Friday, Jan.8, 2010
What can you read?
- Two point books – 20 current Lone Star books plus 8 from the Bluebonnet or TAYSHA list on the back side of the bookmark (6th grade must have permission form on file to receive points for the TAYSHA books) = 56 points total
- One point books – any former Lone Star book ( 7th, 8th grade & 6th graders with permission form may also read former TAYSHA books for 1 point each) = unlimited points
How to get credit for books?
- Fill out Book Submission Form completely and turn in to library. These must be signed by LA teacher or parent.
- Put in container by office door. More slips available there too.
- Points will be documented on spreadsheet in library office windows.
- If you have pre-read any of the CURRENT Lone Star books, then you need to come see me to earn credit. (You will have to give me a brief oral summary.)
Check out rules for current Lone Star, TAYSHA, & Bluebonnet books:
- Only one checked out at a time.
- Exceptions: You may check out an extra book on Friday after school for a total of 2 out for the weekend.
- No reservations on these books.
Individual Prizes
Level 1 – earn 2 points; choice of pencil, Scratch N Sniff bookmark or temporary READ tattoo
Level 2 – read 3 current Lone Star books; Library STREAM pass, candy or chips after 1 pm or ice cream coupon
Level 3 – read 5 current Lone Star books; choice of cut in lunch line pass, specialty pen, mythology trivia card set or “dibs on I Touch” at lunch or morning coupon
Level 4 – read 10 current Lone Star books; leave early or arrive late pass, soda after school or $5 book fair or Cinemark movie coupon
Level 5 – read 15 current Lone Star books; choose your CESIT first coupon AND check out two 2-point books coupon
Level 6 – Read all 20 current Lone Star books; name on the school marquee AND lunch with Mrs. Wright at end of program
Best All Around – the 2 students with the most points at the end of the program will be taken on a shopping trip to a local book store. Student with most points will be able to spend $60 and student with second most points will have $40.
Ice Cream Party –30 students which earn the most total points at the end of the contest will be treated to an ice cream party.
