Some students at Westchester Academy for International Studies participated in the National Italian Examination in March. This standardized test is administered throughout the United States during the same week. Mrs. Diane Nizza is proud to announce three winners in the Honorable Mention category. These are Juan Avalos, 8th prize in Italian III; Karen Artola, 12th prize in Italian IV; and Angie Diaz, 14th place in Italian II.
High school Italian students were invited to attend an Italian luncheon and symposium sponsored by the World Affairs Council. Also attending were the Consul Cristiano Maggipinto, Italian Trade Commissioner Mr. Sposato, University of Houston professors and other distinguished members of the Italian community of Houston. Westchester students performed a skit of Aesop’s Funny Fables, sung the song “Gatto Nero,” and Martha Patton sung the aria by Pergolosi entitled, Se tu m’ami.
Westchester students attended the opera La Bohème on Tuesday, May 6.
