Blogging Bluebonnets - Check out the Blog on Bluebonnet Books. Add your comments as well. This is a great way to discuss the Bluebonnet titles - especially if you don't want to come early for breakfast.
Texas Bluebonnet Award - This program is for students in grades 3 - 5. A master list of books is available from the Texas Library Association. Students read books from the list from August through January. In January we vote with the rest of the students in Texas. A celebration will be held in the Spring semester for students reading more than 10 titles from the list.
Books 'n Breakfast - Held the third Friday of each month in the library at 7:30 am. Parents and children come and discuss a book while they enjoy a simple breakfast. Students must let the librarian know they are coming the Wednesday before the breakfast by signing up in the library or sending an e-mail. (This let's me know how many to prepare for.) To participate in a Books 'n Breakfast a student must have read more than two thirds of the book being discussed.
Here are the books for each month:
September – George Crum and the Saratoga Chip By Gaylia Taylor; October – Who Stole Halloween? By Martha Freeman; November – Year of the Dog By Grace Lin; December – Pompeii Lost and Found By Mary Pope Osborne; January – Bella at Midnight by Diane Stanley
Battle of the Books - This year we will try to do a modified Battle of the Books. The list of books that we will discuss is available on a flyer at the circulation desk. Most of the books will come from the Bluebonnet List this year. This is a program that is still in it's infancy....please check the Road Runner Express for more information.
